ROBERT T. (Bob) DOLESHEL
Bob Doleshel, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, January 30, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 5, 1920 at 2124 Lombard Avenue to Mabel and Frank Doleshel at 2 p.m., with Dr. Quigley attending. Bob's parents moved to the Kellogg Marsh area of Marysville, Washington in 1922. Bob attended Kellogg Marsh grade school, Marysville Jr. High, and graduated from Marysville HS in 1939. He did stay with his grandparents in 1927 to attend first grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. He hired out on the Great Northern Railroad in 1940, and came back to the railroad after the war, retiring in 1980 as a Locomotive Engineer. Great Northern Burlington Northern, now Santa Fe. Bob was an aviation machinist in the Navy, and served two years aboard the highly decorated aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hornet. He was a long time member of the U.S.S. Hornet reunions, serving on the committee several times. He was known as a good baseball player. He played semi-pro with the Everett Blue Jays in the Northwest League. Bob was also on the old Everett town league as well as Lundeens and Marysville town teams.
Bob married Frances Novak Richer in 1945. They had two children, Judy Ann (Ron) Maxwell and Michael Robert (Barb) Doleshel. Judy and Ron had four children, Mary, Jenny, Thomas, and Kelly. Mike and Barb had three children, Chris, Bryan, and Kevin.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran. He was remarried in 1996 to Gloria Daoust. Bob was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish. He served on the parent's club and athletic department at the school, and was an usher and greeter for several years. Bob was a lifetime member of both 3rd & 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Also known to frequent the race tracks, notably old Longacres, Emerald Downs, and Fraser Downs-to name a few.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his two children, Judy (Ron) Maxwell and Mike (Barb) Doleshel; seven grandkids and spouses; nine great-grandchildren; nine stepchildren and their spouses; 33 step-grandchildren; and 22 step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond Doleshel, of Arcadia, CA; and other loving friends and family members.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran; his parents; sister; and two brothers.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday February 7, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church-2619 Cedar, Everett. A rosary service will be held at noon, with a Mass following at 12:30 p.m. A reception to follow in the parish hall. Funeral arrangements made through Purdy & Walters with Cassidy.
