LEOMINSTER - Helen M. (Childs) Kendall O'Keefe, 93, of 256 Pleasant St. died yesterday in Leominster Hospital.

Her husband, John L. O'Keefe, died in 1948. Her first husband, Berton W. Kendall, died in 1925.

She leaves three daughters, Helen M. Hill of Leominster, with whom she lived, Bernice L. Adams of Worcester, and Mary Ann Nelson of Sterling; a brother, Harold E. Childs of Millbury; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

A grandson, David A. Hill of Leominster, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1969 during the Vietnam War.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Herbert and Mary (Broderick) Childs, and later lived in Sterling. She lived here since 1932.

Mrs. O'Keefe was a switchboard operator for many years at New England Telephone Co. in Worcester and Leominster, retiring in 1959.

She was a member and former deaconess of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Leomister Senior Citizens, the Golden Age Club of Leominster, the Telephone Pioneers of America and Post 151, American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, 23 West St. The Rev. Kenneth B. Duerr will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Calling hours at Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Flowers may be sent, or contributions made to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church, 23 West St., Leominster, 01453.
