St. Nazianz: Mrs. Katherine Kaltenbrun, 90, oldest member of St. Gregorys parish, passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Christel, a mile east of St. Nazianz, Sunday morning at 2 o'clock. She had been ill for some time.
Mrs. Kaltenbrun, nee Katherine Riesterer, was born April 4, 1852 in Baden, Germany, and in 1871 came to America, direct to St. Nazianz. In September, 1874, she was married to Louis Kaltenbrun at St. Gregorys church, St. Nazianz, by the late Rev. P. A. Mutz.
After their marriage they bought the farm now occupied by Louis Adelman, where they lived until 1912 when they retired, making their home in the village of St. Nazianz.
Fourteen children were born to the couple, four of whom died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Anton Schleh, died May 31, 1925. Her husband also preceded her i death in January, 1924.
Survivors are five daughters; Mrs. Albert Christel of Valders, Rt. 1; Mrs. John Michels and Mrs. Joseph Gaerthoeffner of Sheboygan; Mrs. William Wollersheim of Kiel, R. 2; and Mrs. Anton Eberle of Valders, R. 1; four sons, Anton of Random Lake; Joe and Louis of West Allis; and Peter of Oakwood, Wis.; 50 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at St. Gregorys church and burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
