WILLIAM GRABS 1909

On Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. Mrs. Wm. Grabs died at his home, after suffering from a bad leg for many years. She was one of the old German residents of our area.

The deceased first saw the light of the world on July 26, 1840 in Troidtschendorf, near Goerlitz, Schlessien Germany, where he was married the first time and blessed with five children.

After his wife died, he came to America with his children and settled on a farm near Rockville. On July 9, 1883 he married a second time with Mrs. Henriette Schmidt. The couple has lived in Kiel for the past 11 years. Since he was a boy, he has had leg problems, and brought on his death, since he has been bedridden since spring.

Mr. Grabs is survived by four sons, one daughter, three step-daughters, one brother and one sister, the last in Germany. He had reached the age of 68 years, 3 months and 21 days. The burial took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Rockville Cemetery with Pastor Rech officiating.
