Carol Gipple, 62, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 11am Monday, November 23, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Graveside services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter at 2pm Monday.
Carol was born in Bellwood, IL to Henry Stout and Caroline Bryan. She graduated from Proviso West High School, married Jerry Gipple at Maywood Christian Church in Maywood, ILin 1970 and they made their home in Des Moines where they raised their four children. Carol was a 26 year employee of the Urbandale HyVee in the customer service department. She enjoyed singing, dancing, sewing and family camping trips.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry, her children, Keith (Tammy) Gipple of Fort Campbell, KY, Caroline Gipple, Christina (Brian Whitham) Gipple and Karen Gipple all of Des Moines; her granddaughter, Payton Whitham, her brother Henry (Pat) Bryan of West Chicago, IL and her cousin, Dorthy Ellinger of Aurora, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Billy Bryan.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5pm Sunday at Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Mercy Hospice.
