Elizabeth J. Arno (nee Dearnley), 76, of 287 Old Kensico Road, White Plains, NY, died peacefully at Calvary Hospital in The Bronx, NY on November 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.


She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Arno and sister to the late Gloria Malatesta.


Betty was a long time employee of Nestle Co. in White Plains, NY. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale, NY. Betty was an active member of the Sacred Heart Leisure Club in Hartsdale and the Sisters of Divine Compassion at Good Council in White Plains, NY.


For many years she also attended The Passionist Fathers Retreat at the Cardinal Spellman Retreat House in Riverdale, NY. Betty will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity and kindness. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


Betty is survived by her cousins Thomas Bentley of Bronxville, NY, Robert and Grace Scherrer of Virginia Beach, VA, and Elaine and Lou Cardinale of Hawthorne, NY.


Reposing at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Sunday (today) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. only. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Hartsdale, NY, on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
