Ivan and Carol settled in Rockbridge (Greene Co.), IL. They farmed on a 600 acre farm that they rented from one family for years. They retired and moved to Greenfield, IL and son Wayne and wife Ethel assumed operation of the farm renting from the same family. After the death of Ivan and Carol, Wayne and Ethel left the farm and moved to the house in Greenfield. Wayne went to work for the State of IL.
Ivan, Carol and Wayne would make annual visits. Carol's parents lived in Waynesburg and he would drop her there, purchase a five pound jar of pickled rope bologna, and he and Wayne would come on down to Fishing Creek. That bologna sure tasted good after a steady diet of country ham, squirrel, chicken, etc. Ivan's nickname in IL was Slim. He was large man, more so than any of his brothers. Aunt Carol called him a leaner. He would stand in the doorway with on hand on the woodwork. She would follow wiping away his fingerprints.
