Edna Laurel Pettitt, 91, of Harrison, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at her home.

Laurel was born February 20, 1918 in Lenoir City TN, however, she lived most of her life in the Chattanooga, TN area. She attended beauty school after graduating from Tyner High School and worked in many beauty shops around the city before opening her own beauty shop in East Chattanooga.

Laurel was a member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the Loyalty Sunday School Class. During her many years of Christian service Laurel taught numerous Sunday school classes from preschool thru adult. She was also a member and former director of the WMU.

Mrs. Pettitt was preceded in death by husband Charles Pettitt Sr., parents D. P. and Mattie Jones, brothers Glen, Howard, and Gilbert Jones.

Survivors include her children; Gale (James) Williford, Charles (Dianne) Pettitt, Carol (Glen) Ferguson, grand children; Jeannie (David) Ivey, Vickie (Jr.) McGaha, Shannon (Steve) Gaddis, great-grand children; Garrett and Weston Ivey, Blair and Erin McGaha, Andrew and Ashton Gaddis. Sister; Thelma Richie and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church 4239 Benton Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37406.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Dr. Jake Carroll and Rev Grady Cooper will officiate the services. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Loyalty Sunday School Class.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice-Amedisys, Guardian Home Health (Jennifer, Teresa and Mary) and special thanks to sitter and friend Helen Thurmond.
