The will of the late Calvin T. Hoxie of Poplar Ridge was offered for probate in Surrogate's Court this morning and citation issued to January 4. The estate is valued at between $75,000 and $100,000, according to Attorney Richard C. S Drummond, who represents the executors named in the instrument.

The bulk of the large estate is left to charities including the Auburn Y. M. C. A., The Red Cross, Home for Friendless, Salvation Army, Cayuga Asylum for Destitute Children and
other organizations.

Calvin T. Hoxie died a few weeks ago at his home in Poplar Ridge at the advanced age of 92 years. He settled in Southern Cayuga County when a boy, coming there with his
father, James Hoxie, from New Bedford, Mass. The family settled on a plot of three acres. During the interval down to the present the family prospered until the Hoxie farm of 185 acres is regarded as one of the finest in the county.

By thrift and frugal living Mr. Hoxie amassed a fortune consisting of his farm property and securities in a safe deposit bank in a local bank.

The provisions of the will are as follows:

"I, Calvin T. Hoxie, of the Town of Venice, County of Cayuga and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say:

"First—I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.

"Second—I give and bequeath to my nieces, Nellie Branch Stewart, Esther Hansey, Emma Baker and Hazel Grinnell, each the sum of $1,000.

"Fourth—I give and bequeath to Frederic Hosmer, $1,000, to Martha Bowman Hosmer, $5,000, also, my old fashioned tall clock, my birdseye maple bookcase and desk, all my silverware, all my mother's and father's pictures and the family Bible and to Fredorica Hosmer, daughter of Frederic and Martha Bowman Hosmer, $3,000.

"Fifth—I give and bequeath to Claude E. Peckham, $5,000, my gold watch and chain and my phonograph and records.

"Sixth—I give and bequeath to the Friend's Church at Poplar Ridge, N. Y. (said church being a branch of what is known and designated as The Scipio Quarterly Meeting of Friends) $1,000, in memory of my father and mother, James and Martha Hoxie. Also $1,000 to be used in keeping the church building in repair.

"Seventh—I give and bequeath to the Ridgeway Cemetery, in trust, $500 so much of the income therefrom, as may be required, to be used in the permanent care and upkeep of the burial plots of my father, mother, sisters and my own lot, and any surplus to be used in general upkeep of, said cemetery.

"Eighth—I give and bequeath to the Masonic Home located at Utica, N. Y., $2,000.

"Ninth—I give and bequeath to the Cayuga Asylum for Destitute Children, $2,000; to the Old Ladies' Home, located at Auburn. N. Y., $2,000; to the Auburn Sunnycrest Sanatorium, located in Auburn, N.Y., $2,000.

"Tenth—I hereby authorize and direct my Executors hereinafter named, to dispose of all real estate of which I may die possessed, at public or private sale, and the proceeds derived from the sale of my farm, situate in the town of Ledyard, to be divided equally, share and share alike, between the Cayuga County Branch of the Young Men's Christian Association, the Cayuga County Branch of the Young Women's Christian Association, and the Cayuga County Branch of the Red Cross and and remainder of my estate, hereinbefore disposed of, to be divided into four equal parts or shares, one share thereof to be given to the Poplar Ridge Branch of the Red Cross, to be used by them as they in their judgment may elect; one share to Auburn Branch of the Salvation Army, to be used by them as they may elect; one share to the Cayuga Asylum for Destitute Children, and one share to the Old Ladies' Home, located at Auburn, N.Y.
