TORRINGTON — Theresa M. "Cookie" Cooke, 95, of Torrington, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at Paradigm Health Center.

Born in Torrington on May 30, 1914, the daughter of the late John P. and Bridget (Droney) Cooke, she was a lifelong Torrington resident. She owned The Millinery Shop in Mertz Department Store for many years, and later worker for the Torrington Probate Court.

One of her proudest days was being named "Mayor of the Day" on St. Patrick's Day. She was a longtime communicant of St. Francis Church and a member of its Women's Guild.

She was predeceased by all of her siblings, sisters Mary, Grace, Gret and Sister Grace Marie and brothers Dick, Jake, Jim and Tom, and is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Paradigm Health Center for their loving and devoted care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 27 at 10:30 at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow at Old St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington, Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. www.phalenfuneral.com.
