The following account is taken from notes written by my Dad, Jerry Ray Johnson, about one of his favorite people, Uncle Bill.
"My first childhood memory was Bill leaning down from the saddle and lifting me up behind him on a black mare named Bess. My cousins would be waiting their turn to ride Bess with a man we believed to be John Wayne, Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett all rolled into one. Bill was a cowboy, hunter, fisherman and champion story teller. He never married and had children, but he had many nieces and nephews who he loved as much as any parent could love a son or daughter."
Uncle Bill died on my Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary.
