The Olney Advocate, May 21, 1936: George W. Ward, 86, died last Thursday night at the home of his daughter Mrs. Will Philmon in northeast Olney township. Funeral service held at the Philmon home last Saturday with Rev. J. W. Sturdivant in charge. Burial in Maple Dale Cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Arthur Ward, Cape Girardeau, MO, and Hugh Ward, of Portersville, MO: two daughters, Mrs. Rena McNamee, of Advance, MO. and Mrs. Will Philmom, of Olney. Mrs. Ward preceded him in death in February of this year.
