The son of William T. McGinnis and Isabelle V. Roe McGinnis, of Preston county, West Virginia, and brother of four siblings.

D.T. served in both Korea and Vietnam, and in both the Army and the Air Force; also at the Pentagon. He gained the rank of Master Sergeant.

D.T. belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 21, Spencer, Disabled American Veterans, Retired Enlisted Association, Air Force Sergeants' Association, West Virginia Farm Bureau, and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his second wife, two children, grandchildren, one sister, two brothers, and the extended family members.
