Irene L. Franczyk, age 91, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Harbor, Michigan.

She was born May 30, 1918 in Lamberton, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael H. Varhol and Appolonia (Brayer) Varhol

Preceding her in death are her husband Peter and son John, son - in - law Charles Carroll, and brothers and sisters: Joseph Varhol, Mary Varhol, Col. Michael Varhol and Katherine Bucko.

Irene was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Uniontown, Pa. and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She is survived by the following children, Dr. Lauretta Cole and husband William of Charleston, W. Va., William and wife Barbara of Uniontown, Pa., Monica Carroll of Ann Arbor, Mich., JoAnn Andrews and husband Robert of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mary Jean Kish and husband James of Uniontown, Pa., and Christine LeVin and husband Eric of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; brother John and a sister Betty Bjalobok; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Robert T. Kish Funeral Home, New Salem, Pa., on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, November 30, 2009 until 8:45 a.m. when prayers will be recited. A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Uniontown, Pa., with the Rev. Father Alexander Pleban as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.

The Ministry of Consolation will hold Services on Sunday at 3 p.m. and the Christian Mothers will follow the Services with recitation of the Rosary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Irene's name may be made to Kish Funeral home to support our U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
