Margaret Brevard was born the 29th of December 1855 to Thomas Ashworth and Susan Selina (Harris) Breavard. She was their only daughter. Her older brothers were James Nettles, John Decatur, Benjamin Mashburn and David Franklin Brevard and her younger brother was Zebulon Vance Brevard.
Margaret married Solomon Rufus Stroupe. They had six children:
