Clay Ingram, 78, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. John McCullough, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born on July 17, 1931, in Ackerly, Texas and married Mary Beth Schafer on June 27, 1952 in Colorado City.

Clay was raised in Ackerly and was the son of George and Myrtle Ingram. He had farmed and ranched all of his life and was named Farmer of the Year in 1992 and Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1984. He was a member of the ASCS Board for 9 years and had served on various agricultural boards. Clay had served as a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church for 30 years and for the last 2 years he was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He loved God - He loved his family - He loved the land and loved farming.

Survivors include his wife, Beth of Big Spring; two sons, Craig Ingram and wife, Lisa of Big Spring and Tim Martin of Lomax; one daughter, Cherry Furqueron and husband, Phil of Big Spring; three grandchildren, Cole and Connor Furqueron and Case Ingram all of Big Spring; two brothers, Gibby Ingram of Big Spring and George Ingram of Abilene and one sister, Totsy Alderton of Abilene.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Guy Blaine Ingram in 1953; his parents; one brother, Lynn Ingram; one sister, Modesta Snell and one grandson, Collin Chase Furqueron.

Honorary pallbearer will be Clayton Shaffer.
The family suggests memorials be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 5108 Nichols, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
