Ralph Cecil "Red" Gates was the youngest of six children born to Francis Marion Gates and Nora Parislee (Doke) Gates. Ralph lived at home with his widowed mother for many years. After her death he married Lewgene Goldsberry on Oct 28, 1961. He was 55 years old. He never had any children. When Ralph and Lewgene had been married 14 years he died of a heart attack. She found him in the back yard. Ralph and Lewgene are buried at the Brighton Cemetery, Brighton, Missouri.
