Andrew "A.J." Abel, 13, of Winterset, died Nov. 6, 2001, at his home.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Madison County.
A.J. Abel was born Feb. 13, 1988, in Manchester to Ryan L. and Lori A. (Burke) Abel. He was currently in seventh grade at Winterset Junior High School where he participated in football. He also had participated in wrestling and baseball. A.J. was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing and riding horses.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandfathers.
He is survived by his parents, Ryan and Lori, of Winterset; two brothers, Jared and Luke, both at home; paternal grandmother, Lois Abel of Buffalo Center; maternal grandmother, Kay Burke of Ryan; great-grandmother, Vivian Intlekofer of Buffalo Center; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions in A.J.'s name may be directed to his family.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
