Michael Norman "Mike" Moore, 62, of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his residence. No services are planned. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mike was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Big Spring to Ella and Mike Moore. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1967 and attended Howard College for two years. Mike married Elaine Ocoee Puckett Dec. 28, 1967. They were married 41 years. Mike was owner and operator of Sam's Package Store for more than 40 years.
Mike is survived by his wife, Elaine Ocoee Moore of Big Spring; one son, Michael Lyle Moore of Big Spring; one daughter, Sandra Danene Moore of Lubbock; one granddaughter, Autumn Paisley Moore; one sister, Patricia Rutledge and her husband, Tommy, of Big Spring; a brother-in-law, Horace Earl Puckett of Austin; two nephews, Jeff and Zane Rutledge; four nieces, Karen Johnson, Kelley McBee, Leslie Kuplatt and Christy Cole; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Trevor Moore; one sister,Patsy McKeller; and one brother, Jerry Moore.
Mike was dedicated to caring for numerous animals. He was especially fond of birds and was responsible for rehabilitating hummingbirds for many years.
