Emerson Sylvester Brewer, 81, Sportsman Road, Gilpin Twp., died on Wednesday February 6, 1991, at 8:30 a.m. in his home. Born on December 5, 1909, in Bagdad in Gilpin Twp., he was the son of George Silas and Jennie Rossanna (Kepple) Brewer, and lived nearly all his life in Gilpin Twp. Retired in 1973 with 40 years service as a mechanic from the Schenley Distillary, Schenley, he was a member of the Leechburg BPO Elks No. 377, Leechburg VFW Post 330, and the American Legion Post 775, Schenley. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy as a MM2/c from Nov. 27, 1943 to Oct. 19, 1945. Survivors include his wife of 12 years Mary Servanti Sappe Brewer, a son Paul Emerson Brewer, Baltimore, MD, a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Linda Shirleen) Harding, Brookville; two grandchildren, a step-son , Richard Sappe, Kepple Hill, Parks Twp., a step daughter, Mrs. Mark (Irene A.) McKinley, Woodinville, WA five step grandchildren; three brothers, G. Roland "Dutch" Brewer, Allegheny Twp., D. Wendell Brewer, Hayward, CA and Frank L. Brewer, Gilpin Twp.; two sisters, Mrs. George (Marjorie) Tonks, Lower Burrell, and Mrs. William (Florence) Bright, Matthews, NC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Mae (Barrett) Brewer on Dec.19, 1968; a son Gary Brian Brewer on June 24, 1962; two brothers, Delmar W. Brewer, March 11, 1977 and Frederick DeForest Brewer on Jan. 5, 1991, a sister Isabel M. Kepple Nov. 28, 1988 and by his father in 1955 and his mother in 1933. Friends were received in the Dean W. Cline Funeral home, Leechburg, with funeral services held on Saturday, Feb. 9 with Rev. Edward J. Robbons and the Rev. John H. Milne officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
