Jacob Michael Zahm was born Mar. 4, 1828 in Olsberg, France and died June 3, 1907 in Huntington, Huntington Co.,Indiana. He married Mary Ellen Braddock on April 6, 1849 in New Lexington, Ohio. She was the daughter of John and Mary Storm Braddock and born on Feb. 27, 1827 in Loretto, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. She died on Dec. 18, 1884 in Huntington, Indiana. He then married Agnes Braddock on Jan. 29, 1889, Mary's niece.

Jacob & Mary had eight children: Louis and Pius of Huntington; Mrs. George Moore, of Michigan; Albert of Washington D.C.; Rev. John A. Zahm, of Notre Dame; and three daughters teaching in the convent, namely Sisters Teresina, Angeline and Angelita.

He also leaves one brother, George Zahm; and two sisters, Mrs. Anne Beaver and Mrs. Mary Bletzacker.
