LOUIS JERRY DUFRAIN

Louis Jerry DuFrain, son of Henry and Sophie (Boisvert) DuFrain, was born in Kankakee, Illinois on December 1, 1859 and departed this life February 17, 1940.At the age of 12 years, he came to Kansas with his parents, and three brothers, driving through in a covered wagon, homesteading on a farm six miles south and one mile east of Clyde, Kansas, where he grew to manhood.

He was married August 18, 1885 to Agnes Duby of Miltonvale, Kansas. To this union six children were born: Malina Proctor and Nettie M. Smith of Miltonvale, Kansas; Philip G. DuFrain of Topeka, Kansas; Emery E. DuFrain of Miltonvale, Kansas; Ida Pearl Bulleigh, address unknown; and Agnes Charlotte, having died in infancy. His wife passed away at Moundridge, Kansas, July 9, 1899, leaving him with six small children, the oldest 13 years of age and the youngest three days old. He was a mother to his children, keeping his little family together until they were grown. He was always thoughtful of his family.

On March 25, 1919 he united in marriage to Josephine (Bulleigh) Allen of Miltonvale, Kansas. They lived happily together for eight years. She departed this life June 20, 1927. From this time he lived alone until his health failed. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Francis moved to his home to be with him. He was a patient sufferer for many years, never complaining of his ailment. He had a happy smile and cheerful word for everyone. He united with the Christian Church in 1920, attending church regularly until his health failed. He leaves to morn his loss, 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted February 19, by Rev. O. G. Wilson. Interment was in the Miltonvale cemetery.
