Services for Clara Marie Brittain, 82, Winterset, who died Aug. 11, 1988, at the Bethesda Care Center where she resided, were held at the Collins Funeral Home Saturday, Aug. 13, with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Burial was at the North McDonald Cemetery.

Mrs. Brittain was born in Brayton, Iowa, on June 27, 1906, the daughter of Nels and Sofie Christensen Anderson. She was the retired owner of Brittain's Furniture and Carpet and had lived the past 49 years in Winterset.

She was a member of the Disciples of Christ, the First Christian Church, the Crown Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grands, Pythians, Past Cheifs, Santha-lodge of Des Moines and the Jolly Dozen Bridge club.

On June 7, 1939, she was married to Alvin "Bus" Brittain in Greenfield.

Survivors include sons, Ronald of Winterset and Charles Anderson of Oskaloosa; a step-daughter, Floriene Brinkley of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Anna Taylor of Denver, Colo., and Elna Fritzgerald of Des Moines; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter, and two brothers
