Paul D. Watson, 67, of Columbia passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009, in Columbia.

Services, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Ireland, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday until time of service. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Paul will be greatly missed by all the family and friends who knew him.

Mr. Watson was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Columbia to Buford and Ophelia Stone Watson. He graduated from Hickman High School in 1959. In 1962, Pail married Bobbi Bundy Apostolope in Denver. They later divorced in 1978. On Feb. 16, 1979, Paul married Judy S. Rezendes in Green River, Wyo. Paul returned to Columbia in 1981.

Pail was a member of Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church and also served on the Locust Grove Cemetery Board. He was a past member of the Columbia Building Codes Commission and Examining Board of Plumbers. He owned and operated Pail Watson Plumbing Co. and J-TAP Plumbing for many years. Paul also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Those who knew Paul were well aware of his fondness of animals. Over the years, he raised a variety of critters ,ranging from dairy goats to pot-bellied pigs to exotic birds and racing pigeons. Paul always found great comfort and serenity with the animals that surrounded him. His favorite little dog, Mouse, passed on in 2008.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Watson; sons Darrel Watson, Allen Watson and wife D.J., and Tony Watson and Leif Husman; daughter Natalie Watson Abshier and husband Jerry; brother Dwayne Watson and wife Sue; sister Ruth Watson Buchanan and husband George; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Cleo Watson; and his brother, Buford Watson Jr.
