MOBILE COUNTY - Horace Bufford Abbott

Horace Bufford Abbott, a native of Manchester, Ala., and a resident of Chickasaw, died Tuesday at an area nursing facility. He was 85.

Abbott, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, was a mechanic for Trail Pontiac for 35 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Willodean Abbott of Chickasaw; four children, Helen Delores Elmore of Chickasaw, Cathy C. Middleton of Eight Mile, and Phylliss Toxey and Phillip Abbott, both of Saraland; six siblings; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The service will be today at 10 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Industrial Parkway in Saraland. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
