John J. "Big John" Strauser 80, of Memphis, died Friday, November 27, 2009. After graduating from Humes High School, he joined the United States Army Infantry Division and fought in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge he married his only wife, Rebecca. They were married 57 years. One of his greatest attributes was to assure that all were provided for in whatever they needed in life. Mr. Strauser worked at Freuhauf Trailer Corporation for 37 years. He loved hunting, fishing and being out doors as much as possible. His encouragement and optimism for other's remained and was based on a continuum. His sense of humor persevered throughout his long illness. He always had a kind word. To those that remained loyal, loving and devoted, the memories you provided him through the years were never forgotten. He leaves his wife, Rebecca of Memphis, a son, Mike Strauser of Millington, TN; one daughter, Melissa Strauser-Mincieli, of Memphis; one brother, James Strauser, of Texas; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
