Finally able to detect the clerical error made on the vaguely written/printed 1860 Census. Also, you will see that even the today's modern world clerical errors were made:
Type/search for "Abraham Hoogland", on the very far right click on the camera symbol.

James Hougland 34 M Farmer (Valve of Real Estate) 4000
Melinda Hougland 33
Abraham 10
Martha 6
Kelly 1
All born in Indiana.
I would daresay you would concur with my finding.
(Someone before me edited the date Jan 17, 1851 and I changed it to 1849)
At first it appeared that Abraham had a twin sister Elizabeth who was born during the same year 1851 (actually they are not); and both are buried at the same cemetery (Lowell-Fuller).
On her tombstone is embossed with detail:
ELIZABETH
Daughter of
J & M HOUGLAND
The dates of her birth and death could be wrong due to, again, clerical error?
Take a look at what I did on their father's site:
Their 8 children were:
Abraham J. 1849-1875
Elizabeth 1851-1855
Martha "Mattie" 1855-1900 m. Charles Baker
Caroline 1856-1860
Kella 1859- m. Louisa W. Casey Baker
Robert J. 1862-
(Charles J. 1864-1943 ---Same guy Robert J.) m. Elizabeth Jane Whitney 1862-1944
Sophrona Anna 1868-1903 m. W.H.Mills -1900
