Cecil Irving Bassham was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee on August 25, 1895. He was the son of James Richard Bassham and Louise Josephine Rhodes. He married Mary Ann Reavis on September 12, 1917 in Hardy, Arkansas. To this union, five children were born: Earnest Benton (Twin), Forest Clinton (twin), Grady Irving, and twins, Ella Mae and Della Faye died in infancy. His wife, Mary Ann Reavis died in 1922 following childbirth.
He married Willie Mae Hamlett-Fuller in Moko, Arkansas on March 7, 1926. To this union five children were born: Kenneth Delbert, Tracy Calvin, Ella Faye, Bernice Opal, and Beulah Mae.
He died at Moko, Arkansas on July 24, 1949.
