Hollie Cleveland Evans, son of John and Martha Evans, was born October 6, 1885, in Lancaster, Mo. He crossed to the Great Beyond from his home in Glenwood, Mo., Thursday morning, Feb. 20, 1936, at age of 50 years, 4 months and 14 days. His parents passed away when he was a little boy and his grandmother, Mrs. Lucinda White, cared for and reared him to manhood at her farm home north of Lancaster. He was married to Miss Rosa Ellen Baughn, November 26, 1903. To this union was born four children, Mrs. Helen Shumate of Glenwood, Mo., Ernest Evans of Des Moines, Iowa, Miss Cecil Evans and Leo Evans at home. He and his family moved to Glenwood twenty-six years ago from a farm north of that town.

His death has cast a gloom over the community. Although he had been in failing health his serious illness had only been of a few days duration. Hollie was one of an unusually bright, cheerful and amiable disposition. He saw the bright side of life and always welcomed his friends and his pastor into his home. He was a devoted husband and father. He was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of Glenwood several years ago. He was an Odd Fellow in good standing at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, his four children, three grandchildren Ronald Perry and Cecil Joan Shumate and Larry Evans and one sister Mrs. Robert Murrell and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. E. Keltner at the Glenwood Methodist church, Friday, February 21 and interment was in the Glenwood cemetery.
