Momma Mia - a true light that touched so many lives has gone out. Felicia Phyllis Guest, nee Masicio, age 90, of Redding, formerly Chicago, passed away on September 24, 2009 at her home. Beloved wife for 55 years of the late Gilbert Guest; loving mother to daughter Gayle Guest and son Greg (Becky) Guest of Portland; proud grandmother of Carter and Gibby Guest; daughter of the late Cledomina and Dominick Mascio; sister to her two late brothers, Angelo and Clemente. Phyllis was born on August 11, 1919 in Chicago, and her Italian heritage taught her early of the importance of family... with five aunts and two uncles and their families close at hand. Phyllis always had a love of music and a great talent for singing.
She married Gib Guest and moved to Santa Monica in 1948 with their first born Gayle. Son Greg was born in Santa Monica and the family then moved to Encino in 1949 and finally to Redding in 1957. Phyllis worked for 38 years at Mercy Hospital in Redding, seeing many doctors start their residency all the way through their retirement. Phyllis loved to make people happy and teased a lot, saying fun things to get a response out of anyone, anytime. She was dedicated to her work and well respected, but even more so she was dedicated to her family and friends, especially her two grandchildren Carter and Gibby. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on December 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Igo. At 1 p.m. a celebration of life luncheon will be held at the Redding Elks Lodge. Memorials or donations may be made to The American Cancer Society , or The Shriners Club.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr. Figueroa of Solace Cancer Care, Mercy Medical Center and Nurse Richard Montgomery at Northern Calif. Vascular and Interventional Center. Also Chaplain Pat Moeller from Mercy Hospice and Debbie Bollinger a good friend.
