Dr. William B. Redmon
Dr. William B. Redmon, 71, a Midland physician since 1959, died Saturday evening, April 15, 1995, at the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Covington, Ky., son of the late Roy S. and Artie (Houston) Redmon. He served with the United States Army during World War II from 1943 until 1945, and participated in D-Day. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1948 with a bachelors of arts degree, he received his masters degree from the University of Michigan in 1949, and in 1953 received his MD degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. Redmon trained at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and also at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He began his medical practice in Midland, Jan. 1, 1959, and was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
His memberships included The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, American Congress for Rehabilitation, Midwest Orthopaedic Society, The American Medical Association, and Michigan State and Midland County Medical Societies. He served on the Executive Committee of the Midland Hospital Medical Staff and as a board member of Midland Hospital Center's Board of Directors. He also was a member of the Board of Directors of the MidMichigan Healthcare Systems and the H.E.L.P. Board. Dr. Redmon served the Midland High School Junior Varsity Football team for over 30 years. He also served with the Northwood University Football Program for many years and was a member of the Midland Exchange Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Midland and was active in the National Model Railroad Association, the National Railway Historical Society and the Michigan Historical Society.
Surviving is his son, Martin C. Redmon and his wife, Teresa of Fruit Cove, Fla.; his daughter, Kathryn H. Wiggans and her husband, Thomas of Atherton, Calif.; and his four grandchildren, K.T. and James Redmon and Elizabeth and Amanda Wiggans.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 1995, from the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Grigereit will officiate with burial in the Midland Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted under the auspices of the Midland American Legion, Berryhill Post No. 165. Dr. Redmon's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever & Co. Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
