"EMERY HOWARD HARLAN. June 3, 1914 - Nov. 19, 1995. Emery Howard Harlan, 81, died Sunday [November 19] at his home in Sonora following a long illness. Mr. Harlan, a native of San Francisco, had owned a summer home in Twain Harte for seven years prior to moving to Sonora four days before his death. He owned and operated two East Bay Appliance stores in Hayward and Alameda for 37 years. He was a member of the Alamo Lodge F. & A.M., the Oakland Scottish Rite Bodies, the Mother Lode Shrine Club, the Sonora Moose Lodge and the Tuolumne Star Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star No. 123. He enjoyed carpentry and mechanical things. Mr. Harlan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucille Harlan of Sonora; his daughters, Carole Imani of Fremont, Charlene Bryant of Concord and Sparky Harlan of San Francisco; his sister, Dorothy Harlan of Sonora, and four grand-children. There will be no services, at Mr. Harlan's request. Internment will be private at Columbia City Cemetery. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. Remembrances may be made to any favorite charity." END

Mr. Harlan was a native of San Francisco. He lived in Sonora 10 years. He was the owner of East Bay Appliance for 37 years. He was a member of the Alamo Masonic Lodge, Mother Lode Shrine Club, Tuolumne Order of Eastern Star 123, Oakland Scottish Rite Bodies and the Sonora Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Harlan of Sonora; children, Carole Imani of Fremont, Charlene Bryant of Concord and Sparky Harlan of San Francisco; and four grandchildren.

No public services are planned. Burial will be at Columbia City Cemetery. Heuton Memorial Chapel, Sonora, in charge of the arrangements." END
