Harry J. Dies, 73, of Lehigh, died Nov. 24, at his home.

Born July 25, 1936, in Lehigh, to Jacob and Hulda (May) Dies, he graduated from Lehigh High School in 1954.

He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a carpenter from Conco Construction, Wichita. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

He married Carol Shaw Oct. 18, 1997, in McPherson.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Victor; and three sisters, Loretta King, Helen Simon, and Betty Martens.

Survivors include three daughters, Valeda Hack of Mills, Wyo., Kristine Reese of Canton, and Kimberly Stute of Nevada, Texas; two sons, Kendall Shaw of McPherson and Bradley Dies of Lehigh; two stepdaughters, Lynette Pauls of McPherson and Michelle Cordes of Rose Hill; five stepsons, Scott Shaw of McPherson, Darin Shaw of Owasso, Okla., Richard Dies of Rose Hill, Donovan Dies of Ponca City, Okla., and Timothy Dies of Augusta; two sisters, Mildred Steinle and Carol Wilkening of Lehigh; two brothers, Robert of Ardmore, Okla., and Ronald of Lehigh; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday morning at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, with the Rev. Mike Marion officiating.

Burial was at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church and the American Cancer Society.
