August was born 19 Apr 1880 in a small village called Fjalkestad in Sweden (other wise known as Fjälkestad, Kristianstad, Sweden, per birth record listing there).

In May of 1883 at the age of 3 his parents (Nils & Hanna Pattersson- becoming in America, Nels and Hanna Peterson) himself and a sister Hanna came to the U.S also with them was his mother's parents first settleing in Iowa. By Dec of 1883, just 7 months later they arrived in Phelps County Nebraska, being 5 years to late to homestead, so his father worked until he could buy the farm that August and his 6 siblings called home.

It is unknown as to how long he and Katie (Myra Kathryn Westfall) courted but on 26 Aug 1908 they married and remained in Phelps County around Garfield. Working part of his father's land or his own that may of been connected with his father's and brother's, that part remaines unclear. He and Katie's first child a girl died shortly after birth, after that 3 more daughters and a son were born to them, all healthy.

August and one of his brothers worked on the railroad at one time going across the state to Omaha, rebuilding it after a tornado tore up the tracks and a lot of Omaha. Farming had been bad around that time and it was extra income.

August became ill, for how long is unknown by us, and his oldest daughter Cleo Nadine being only 9, no longer remembered, when talking about her Dad. His illness caused him to be hospitilized a couple of times. The last time he was sent to a Hospital in Omaha. Leaving his wife with the children ranging from 9 to 1 year old at the farm. He wrote often we've have been told and even called (do not know how long he was in the hospital), sadly passing away from Pernicious Anemia July 30, 1919 at the young age of 39.

It is also unclear if any of his family was with him at the time of his death, although he was brought home to Bertrand for burial.
