She was born May 12, 1916, in Luzerne Township, daughter of the late Orville J. Crawford and Helen Harn Crawford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Coughenour; her sisters, Mildred Helmick, Kathryn Vernon, Mary Elizabeth Parks; and her brother, George Crawford.
Adna was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Uniontown where she served as a Deaconess and also as a Nursery Attendant for over forty years and was a member of the Junior WMC Missionary Council.
She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Surges and husband, Mel of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Deborah Rea, James (Rick) Rea and Kimberly Berthold and husband, Christopher; one great-grandchild, Tyler Rea.
Friends will be received in the Dearth Funeral Home, New Salem, on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 7, 2009, in Grace Brethren Church, Grace Lane, Uniontown, from 10 until 11 a.m. the hour of service, with Pastor Roland R. Maust and her son-in-law, the Rev. Mel Surges,co-officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
