And although much of Jesse's education was in public schools, he did obtain some education, with a private tutor. He is said to have been student in "Franklin and Marshall College" of Lancaster PA in 1891. And had legal studies at one time, under the supervision of a Gen. H Kyd Douglas. Jesse was admitted to the bar in Washington county, Maryland on Dec 24 1892. Jesse is said to have also been a director in the "Hagerstown Steam Engine and Machine Company" and in the "Second National Bank". The writeup also mentions that Jesse was a member of the firm "J.T. Snyder and son" of Clearspring. Jesse is said to have been very active in Politics, and was a Democratic chairman for 4 years.
