Phyllis Y. Pittenturf, 69 of Gettysburg died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of Edward "Dutch" Pittenturf who died March 12, 1997.

She was born July 6, 1940 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Norman and Grace (Bumbaugh) Myers.

Phyllis was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Gettysburg VFW Ladies Auxiliary. During the 50's and 60's, she was a waitress at the Plaza Restaurant, Gettysburg and also worked at the Dutch Pantry, Dutch Cupboard and the Ski Liberty Tavern. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking rides over the Gettysburg Battlefield and especially loved animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra K. Pittenturf, Gettysburg, brother, Charles Myers, McSherrystown, brother in law, Frank Pittenturf and his wife Carol, Littlestown, sister in law, Nancy Christian and her husband Ron, Hanover and sister in law, Shirley Pittenturf, Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Myers, Jr.

A service to celebrate the life of Phyllis will be Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11 AM at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman officiating. A time to share memories and view will be on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
