Susie Rebecca Wilson Lay was born November 27, 1881 in Winston County, Alabama to William "Billy" Wilson and Nancy Ann Blevins Wilson.
She married John Henry Lay, a son of Joseph Canada Lay and Sarah Frances Malinda Burrell Lay.
They were the parents of John Lay and Lillie Bell Turrentine.

HARTSELLE -- A funeral for Mrs. Susie Lay, 88, Frances Road, Hartselle was Thursday at Johnson Chapel Methodist Church, the Rev. D. L. Jarrett officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery, Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Lay was found dead in her home Tuesday, according to Morgan County Coroner John McBride.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. L. B. Turrentine, Rt. 2, Trinity; one son, John Lay, Hartselle; three brothers, John Wilson, Rt. 4, Jasper, William Wilson, Rt. 4, Jasper; Nathaniel Wilson, Rt. 2, Hartselle; 11 grandchildren.
