Thomas J. Cunningham, 83, of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Shorrock Gardens Nursing Home, Brick, New Jersey. Born in Cuba, Missouri, he lived in Brick, New Jersey before moving to Florida. Mr. Cunningham was the owner of Cunningham Travel Agency, New York, and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his long time companion Phyllis; a daughter, Debra Brent; a granddaughter, Diane Brent; his brothers and sisters Robert, Frank, Charles, Marie Forshee, Betty Holleuffer, and Berte Morris.
Visiting will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 until the funeral service at 10 a.m. at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American National Kidney Foundation , 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852, would be appreciated. www.silvertonmemorial.com.

Tom was a really nice man. I got to know him from when I worked for a transportation company and I used to pick him up and drive him to the treatment center. He and Phyllis were just the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Tom never complained, even when you knew he was really, really sick. He was a real gentleman, had a great sense of humor and could carry on a good conversation. I'll miss him.
