Born April 23, 1920 in Paragonah to Samuel and Susann Myrtle Robinson Abbott.
Married Ruth Bytendorp Abbott on November 26, 1945 in Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2004.
A Chief Motor Machinist Mate in the United States Navy during World War II. He served in LDS callings through his life including a temple mission with Mom in Chicago, Illinois and more than twelve years as Manti Temple sealer.
Known for his gardening, affability, sense of humor, and wealth of stories, he worked very hard for his family, caring for Mom tirelessly after her stroke. He will be sorely missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survived by children: Thomas Elliot (Pamela) Abbott, Arvilla Abbott Outsen, Rebecka Abbott (Frank) Pettit; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Butterfield, Emma Rasmussen, Myron Abbott.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield Eighth Ward Chapel, 805 North 500 East. Friends may call on December 10, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, and Friday at the Ward Chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Paragonah Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Post #20 and the VFW Post #9320.
