She was united in marriage to William H. Sowder, of Derby, Iowa, on November 15th, 1883. To this union four children were born, one of whom died in infancy, and LeOsia, who died at the age of 18 years.
Those left to mourn their loss are the husband and two children, Eugene Sowder, of Derby, and Mrs. Cecil Petty, of Corydon, Iowa, and 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mary Hocking, of Los Angeles, California and four brothers, Grant Mercer, of New Raymer, Colorado, Nelson Mercer, of Brady Island, Nebraska, Lincoln and George Mercer, both of Cozad, Nebraska; besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Sowder had been suffering from the effects of a stroke since last May and has been able to get around part of the time since. On Tuesday evening, about 6 p.m., Mr. Sowder had been busy doing chores and on coming through the yard found her lying on the ground lifeless. Neighbors and a doctor were summoned but to no avail.
On Friday the funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church of Derby by Rev. M. S. Clark, and interment was made in the Murray cemetery. The bereaved have the sympathy of a host of friends.
