EUREKA - Harris, Jean, 82, died July 7, 2008. Service 11 a.m. Friday, Severy, Kan., United Methodist Church.

Survivors: sons, Wilford, Roger, Randy; daughters, Billie Jean Rice, Judy Knapp; sister, Dorothy Reese; brother, Jim Wooldridge; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Koup Family Funeral Home.

Erma “Jean” Harris, of Eureka, died on Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 82.

She was born on February 25, 1926, in Douglass, Kansas the daughter of John Logan and Vesta (Goodnight) Wooldridge. She attended local schools in Douglass.

On December 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Wilford “Bill” Wayne Harris. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1980. They moved to San Diego, California before moving to Walters, Oklahoma and later to west Texas before moving to Severy in the early 1950’s. They made their home in Severy. Building the Ponderosa Steak House and Motel. They later sold the restaurant. Jean later moved to Madison in the mid 90’s before moving back to Eureka. She always worked with Bill whether in the real estate office or on the dairy farm and ranch. Jean was an avid bowler and was on a bowling team for many years. She was involved in a bridge club in Severy.

Jean is survived by three sons, Wilford Harris of Iola; Roger Harris of Emporia; and Randy Harris of Madison; two daughters, Billie Jean Rice of Eureka; and Judy Knapp of Severy; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Wooldridge; and one sister, Dorothy Reese.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Severy United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Twin Grove Cemetery, in Severy.

A memorial has been established in her name to the Kansas Humane Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
