Robert W. McCullough, 29, owner of the Crowell Motor Co., drowned in the Connecticut river last evening when the outboard motor boat in which he was riding overturned near the Boston & Maine railroad bridge below here while he was making a turn. His body has not been recovered but there are several boats grappling and dragging the river today.
Robert William McCullough was born at Downington, Pa., a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. McCullough. His father survives, living in Brattleboro. Several years ago, the young man married Dorothy Mae Vollinger of Northampton, Mass., and two children were born to the couple.
Three years ago Mr. McCullough came to Brattleboro and since then has been owner of the Crowell Motor Co., with a garage on Canal street. He has taken an active part in the revival of boating on the Connecticut and has conducted many outboard motorboat races.
