DOROTHY LYTTON, 63, of 8419 E. Harry, Lytton's Inc. co-founder, died Sunday, June 8, 1986. Service 10:30 a.m. today, Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.

Survivors: husband, Robert; sons, Robert Jr., Tim, both of Augusta, Shawn, Brent, both of Wichita; daughter, Margo Roberts of Wichita; mother, Lulu Singer of Augusta; brother, Harley Singer of Lebanon, Mo.; sister, Dora Catt of Augusta; 12 grandchildren.

DOROTHY LYTTON WORKED HARD TO MAKE BUSINESS SUCCEED
Dorothy Lytton was the first and only employee of Lytton's Inc. when she and her husband, Robert, co-founded the office supply store in Augusta in 1953.

The company, which now runs Lytton's Warehouse Showrooms, has grown into one of the largest independent appliance dealers in Kansas, and Mrs. Lytton was a driving force behind the company's success, family members said Monday.

Mrs. Lytton died Sunday following an extended illness. She was 63.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Lytton's Warehouse Showroom now has two locations in Wichita and about 25 employees. The store in Augusta was closed this year.

It was Mrs. Lytton's dedication and drive when the company was first getting started that helped provide the ingredients for its future success, Margo Roberts, her daughter, said Monday.

''My mother worked several years by herself at the office supply store until the business got built up," Roberts said. "She stayed very active in the company and worked every day."

Roberts said Mrs. Lytton also was very active in her children's school activities.

''She was always there for all of us," she said. "She supported all of us with our school events and encouraged my brothers in their sporting activities."

Mrs. Lytton was born and raised in Augusta; she and her husband had been married 44 years.

Family members said Mrs. Lytton had a special knack for making do, no matter what the situation.

''Mother never complained about anything her whole life," Roberts said. "One thing my father always said about her is that when times were bad, she always got by on whatever there was, and when times got better she did the same. She never thought of herself.

''She always kept us going."

In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Lytton is survived by her sons, Robert Jr., Tim, both of Augusta, Shawn and Brent, both of Wichita; mother, Lulu Singer of Augusta; a brother, Harley Singer of Lebanon, Mo.; a sister, Dora Catt of Augusta; and 12 grandchildren.
