Died, after a brief illness, Mariah Bacon, at her home in Tuscumbia, August 10, 1905. Mariah Bacon--nee Clark--was born Oct 9, 1840. Was married to Ludwell Bacon Nov. 3, 1870. To this union was born four children, 3 of whom survive their mother.

Sister Bacon was converted and united with the Old Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Cooper County, Mo., at the age of 18, and was an earnest, devoted Christian until the day of her death, and an industrious worker in all departments of church work.

She was largely instrumental in building the Baptist Church house in Tuscumbia. Her home was a welcome place for many a weary servant of God.

She leaves an aged husband, three children, a number of step-children, a large circle of friends and a sorrowing church to mourn her sudden death.

The funeral was conducted by the writer, once her pastor, after which the body was laid to rest in the Tuscumbia graveyard.

Sister, thou art gone, but not forgotten. -David McComb
