William Arthur Beeton Jr., 59, of Markham, died Nov. 2 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while on a business trip.

Mr. Beeton was the son of Virginia Mabry Beeton of Lexington and the late William A. Beeton Sr.

He attended Virginia Military Institute and was a graduate of Lynchburg College. He received his law degree from T.C. Williams School of Law in Richmond.

For eight years, he was a partner with the law firm of Eller, Beeton, and Lane in Altavista and most recently operated his own law practice in Fairfax for 19 years. From 1981-82, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates. During Vietnam, he served in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 36 years, Anne Hutt Beeton; four daughters, Carrie Beeton Harley, Courtney Mabry Beeton, Laura French Beeton and Chandra Ann Beene; and a granddaughter.

Other survivors include a brother, Tim Beeton, and two sisters, Barbara Beeton Shrack and Suzy Beeton Herring.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Front Royal United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery in Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Anglican Church of St. John the Baptist, P.O. Box 550, Marshall VA 20116.
