OBITUARY: Mrs. Mattie Ellen DeSpain, age seventy-nine years of Hodgenville, died Sunday morning at Sunrise Manor Nurshing Home here. She was the wife of the late Edward DeSpain. She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Margaree Taylor and Mrs. Clara Mather, both of Hodgenville; Mrs. Beulah Polley, of Magnolia; Mrs. Luceda Flanders and Mrs. Doris Nunn, of Louisville, and Mrs. Mildred Thompson, of Fairborn, Ohio; three sons, Albert Despain of this city, and Orval and William DeSpain, both of Louisville; thirty-one grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and one step grandchild. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Maggie Howell, and one brother, Willie Loyall both of Hodgenville. The body was at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in this city until the funeral Tuesday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, near Buffalo, with the Rev. S. C. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Ridge Church cemetery.
