Donald Eugene "Gene" VanHoosier, 72 of Somerset, KY passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the presence of his family.
He is the son of the late Issac and Elona Young Van Hoosier , a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from Hinkle Construction where he drove a truck for many years. He also served in the United States Army and the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife Corlas Baker VanHoosier; two daughters, Sharon (and Mike) Hansford of Somerset, KY and Phyllis (and David) Phelps of Bronston, KY; two grandchildren, Kevin Hansford of Somerset, KY and Bethany Phelps of Bronston, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Encil Lee VanHoosier who died in infancy, James Ensley VanHoosier and Isaac VanHoosier.

Gene was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he leaves a host of other friends and relatives who mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. C. E. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family of Mr. Donald Eugene "Gene" VanHoosier will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all funeral arrangements of Mr. Gene VanHoosier.
