Stacy W. Batson, 84, of Wilmington, passed away March 2, 2005. Mr. Batson was preceded in death by his wife Beedie C. Batson and son Lemeul "Butch" Batson.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca B. Nemeth and husband Joseph J. Nemeth and their children, Jessica B. Nemeth, Stacey E. Nemeth and Joseph L. Nemeth; son, David W. Batson and wife Linda F. Batson and their children, John Batson, Jennifer Batson and Zachary Batson; several great-grandchildren; numerous friends and a special friend, Daniel Roland.
Stacy was a Navy Veteran of World War II and served on the USS Ommaney Bay CVE 79. He retired from the City of Wilmington after 35 years of service as a crane operator and was a member of the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at their home in Carolina Beach after 4:00 p.m. this evening, Saturday, March 5, 2005. Please feel free to visit from 11:00 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, Oleander Chapel. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
