ST. NAZIANZ - With the passing of Edward Gaerthhoffner this village has lost another of its well-known and highly respected residents and one who had spent his entire life of a little more than 53 years here. After an illness of about one year, during the last half of which Mr. Gaerthoeffner endured much suffering, he passed away at 3 o'clock last Saturday afternoon surrounded by the members of his immediate family.
Edward Garthoeffner was born Aug. 17, 1877, in this village and attended parochial school here. He followed the trade of a painter and decorator and assisted in other kinds of work whenever work in that was slack, and was associated in one way or another with most of the important undertakings of this community. On June 3, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Christina Koenig and to this union two daughters were born.

Funeral services for Mr. Gaerthoeffner will be held at St. Gregory's church with mass to be celebrated at 9:30 Tuesday morning by the pastor, Rev. Fintan Holzknecht, R.D.M.m and interment will be made in the village cemetery. The esteem in which Mr. Gaerthoeffner was held has been clearly shown by the large number of friends who have called at the home during the past few days and the sympathy of the entire community is with the members of the bereaved family.
